Oh so true!! When one's own personal sound dialogues are particularly engaging (as is certainly the case from time to time for any composer) almost all musical exposure feels like clutter, a distraction from the real game.

Your response to Gorecki's advice is great. And it makes me think that in fact one composer's drivers and motivations may differ immensely from the next - so it's just as well not to be telling people they aren't cut out to compose!
